you can get into acting without an agent or relative training. It;s about being in the right place at the right time. With films a director or producer usually has a picture in their mind of what they want and when that person comes along they snatch them up. don't look desperate, look keen and that you know what you are doing. remember if they pick you they are going to have to work with you for the next however long so you will want them to like you out of character as well. Ask lots of questions at auditions.
So go to as many auditions as possible, either through an agent or by yourself. if you hear of an audition just turn up - blag it!
I was in the right place right time and got the main part in a feature film. no agent. no training.
IT CAN BE DONE!

You didn't mention whether you were already an actor or not. But ideally, you should get some form of training under your belt to make sure you are competitive.
You can always get an acting agent cos they'll find the jobs for you. This will be extras work, but everyone has to start somewhere.
Here's a tip if you're okay with extras work, on new movies that are announced but yet to be casted, find out who the casting director is and what agencies they use. My friend did this for the Batman Returns movie when they filmed in London St Pancras.

you need to develop your talent. Take an acting course in Highschool and College. Take after School acting classes. Get experience doing small things. Small auditions community theatre. You need to take this seriously if its something you really want to do.
Acting isn't always easy.

Take acting for 10 years, by then you will have learned a lot about acting. After training you will be ready to audition for local projects.
