If you're gonna answer, don't be biased. But i think usc was given too many expectations just because it's usc and the success they've had recently. i think ppl are forgetting everything they've lost. pete carroll may be the king of college football coaches but even he can only do so much with a brand new team. realistically, usc was capable of a BCS bowl, but certainly not a championship game. yes, they are one of the premier programs in the country, if not the premier program. but c'mon, first year starter, playing more freshmen than i can count, changing defensive schemes. c'mon. and they're not necessarily gonna be better next year. yes, losing a few seniors...but ryan kalil and steve smith and dallas sartz...those guys are hard to replace.

but with that said congrats usc for actually doing better than i thought. and pete carroll, if this is his last year, i want to thank him for what he's brought and done for usc. good luck in the future....
hard to live up to expectations.

I agreee. They didnt think much of Rutgers because Rutgers has sucked since they got a football program. The same happened with Boise State. Just because they dont have a good team a few years ago doesnt mean they cant be good now. I dont think that they should have preseason rankings since its a different team coming into the season and nobody knows what will happen.

USC did lose a lot of great players from last years team and at the beginning of the season i thought maybe a top 5 team i have to admit i did get caught up in the hype as the season went on after losing to OSU i was hoping Rose bowl then all of a sudden everyone was losing in front of us all we needed to do was beat Oregon, Cal, Notre Dame and UCLA no problem right well UCLA played there buts off and Booty stunk up the field now we will be losing Jarret smith and a few senors so once again new players i am happy to play in the rose bowl i am disappointed we lost to UCLA but i do believe USC will be back on top real soon hopefully next year but USC still plays in the PAC 10 a real tough league to go though Pete will get us back on top with Wendell Tyler's son playing for us next year

Yes. I never thought they were the best team in the nation or even believed they were better then michigan, they just happened to do what they needed to get a shot at the title, and until today they almost did. Booty is good when getting ptotected, but put some heat on him and he can't do anything. Plus they don't have exceptional runningbacks or a dominant O-Line like in the past few.. There defense was prettty good though and had excellent receivers. Put Brady Quinn on the Trojans then they would have been best.

Good question. I really haven't heard as much about USC this year as I have in the last couple of years. They weren't ranked as high starting out the season. Their commanding presence in the world of college football wasn't where it used to be. In every game except Stanford, USC played to the level of their opponents a lot, which bit them in the ***. They soundly beat ranked teams but struggled against unranked teams. That kind of thing will get a lot of people to question a team's authority. Granted, the same thing happened to Michigan and Ohio State against unranked teams, but it only happened in one game for each of them.

well i think that USC had a lot of hyped when they beat down Arkansas and Arkansas came back to have a better season than usual. It all came down to have emotional games down the stretch. No expectations it was just pure hype and Arkansas' success after USC

Unbelievable coaching staff for USC to have brought that team this far. It was a great game for UCLA and all of us watching here in Michigan. :-)
