What makes us special? What sort of things do we have to watch out for when we enter relationships with others?

Yeah, we tend to want things OUR way... we are more selfish... its harder to share our things...
We tend to want to do things all by ourselves too.. like we take on more than we can handle-for fear we might "put someone out" to ask them for help.... like we will try to do everything for a party, instead of asking others to bring stuff, or help clean up.
I had to learn how to share my things with my spouse...better now.

Oh my God, I could write a book! I am forty one years old and now have four children of my own, but being an only child sort of screws with your reality on other relationships. I feel like I love more deeply than my husband, who had four siblings. Whenever I fell in love, it was deep...frighteningly deep. It has taken me many years to get over jealously, loving too much (and yes, there is such a thing), and depression over ended relationships. My expectations were just entirely too high for one thing. My parents had a great relationship and were married for over forty years when my Mom passed away. I lost Dad four years later, and for the first time in my life, I was alone. I still feel very alone, especially at holidays and special occasions. I was not a "spoiled" child, just an only child. I thought everybody was like that. Boy how wrong I was!

don't know about being special. I was an only child. Seems to me I missed alot of childhood not having any siblings. never had anyone to watch my back. Needless to say, I totally hated school because of that. Now that I'm older, divorced (thank God) and living alone, I can cope with that much better than if i had a sibling.
