k=1000d
3k=3000d
5k=5000d
10k=10000d

The two answers above, have given you the conversion factor. The algebraic FORMULA is:
d = 1000k

Check by substituting in it.
eg.when k = 3, d = 1000 x 3 = 3000 meters

(Note that the formula is the opposite of the conversion factor and this confuses many people)!
