Just exactly why are men so much smarter than women? Is it something to do with brain structure? Hormonal differences? A combo of both, or something else completely?

LOL I'm sure every woman who reads this is just loving you right now! I'm a woman who happens to know first hand that I am much smarter than most of the men I know...I think that there is a PERCEPTION that is perpetuated in society that makes people like you ASSUME that men are smarter than women. I don't think sex is a factor in intelligence...there are dumb people, average people, smart people, are really smart people. Stereotypes are powerful- it is only fairly recently in human history that women are able to trancend this view. Men assume that simply because they are more physically powerful, they must be more mentally powerful as well, but they are mistaken. There was a period of time during which "he who was physically stronger" made the rules and enjoyed weilding supperiority over those less physically powerful. In this day and age, society has equalized men and women, making physical strength virtually irrelevant. Now, we see woman climbing the ranks, accumulating wealth and power just as men do. If you need proof, try being more informed about what is going on around you. The world is changing, and the stereotype about women being inferior is changing with it!

That is very broad...not all men are smarter than women. Our brains are all the same but how we use them is often different.

Intelligence is almost impossible to determine.
Who is smarter?
A mechanic who can fix my transmission
or
My high school history teacher.
They are both good at what they do and it takes a lot of intellect to do both.
