The short version is that everyone is unhappy with something in their lives. Now, unfortunately people want a reason to blame for their unhappiness. You have the choice of blaming your own decisions and bad luck, or you can take the easier route and blame those that are different, because they must have something to do with what's not perfect for you. Add to that with a few examples of how some representatives of that group do bad things (muslim terrorists, black muggers etc) and you have a readily believed new theory of what's wrong with today.

Blacks blame the man, factory workers blame the 'illegal immagrants' , atheists think the religious are trying to control them, I've heard just about every group blame the jews for something.... Just some examples of how it's easier to blame something you don't know or understand for the problems that everyone has.

I think it is because people fear what they are unfamiliar with--be it people, food, activities, technology--you name it. When the fear is of a certain group people, though, the consequences have such serious potential for harm. With so many different cultures in the United States, let alone the whole world, the number of languages and cultures/customs multiply the chances for misunderstanding and misinterpretation. Lessening hatred and racism is contingent on all of us working to understand one another and not over-reacting or jumping to the most negative conclusion possible. It's a tough thing to do, but change is hard.

Racism is caused out of ignorance and fear. We are all afraid of what we do not understand. For many century's powerful people have used this fear to divide and separate people so that they could keep them weak and venerable. If all people from all nationalities would come together and love one another and help one another, and if everyone of us would put others before us and forget about ourselves, and take care of each outer what a wonderful world it would be. Someday when Jesus reigns the world for 1000 years this is exactly what will happen. Keep praying and do the best you can to show others you care and they are important. You will have a harvest of friends that no amount of money can buy.

So what is new. There always has been and there always will be.

Even you are racist. You are and as all of us when we see someone different we have thoughts as to what and how they are. We all and you as well judge people.

The problem is in what people do about their thoughts and attitudes. Some are just plain stupid and don't have any idea they are the problem. Some do their very best to overcome such judgmental thoughts and want to understand. Most of us are are some place between

I guess as long as there are peopel who disagree with beliefs there will be hatred and misunderstandings within the human race, i personally think its our hunger to know more that keeps us seperate from each other..racism exists even within those who do not recognize it and its an inferiority trait that i think began since human life existed...unfortunately it doesnt seem to get better and it seems people are busy trying to be superior to others rather then mend our differences and become of one ..when color or race doesnt seperate us, money does, and where there is no money even being sick makes us different..well anyways..thats life for ya

As long as there are people of different races, different religions, and different beliefs there is going to be some form of racism and hatred in this country. The true test if you let their beliefs influence you into doing something you know you are against.

Which is "this country"? Why do you assume that everybody in Yahoo Answers is in the country you have in mind? You will never be able to understand the question unless you are aware how different and diverse the world is

Power and Economics. There is not enough for everyone so they say, so someone has to be down the bottom and a scapegoat. But I will tell you one thing, if black people where to disappear over night, there would just be another group used as a scapegoat, so inequality would never go away, because at the end of the day WHO WOULD BE THERE DO TO THE DIRTY WORK AND CLEAN UP THE S***.

There is racism and hatred in the world because people don't mind their own business. To hate some one because of the color of their skin has always blown my mind. If you must hate some one let it be because of what they are inside.

Because everyone is a cheerleader for their own team, and the whole idea is to win, win, win, so we must obliterate the other team to come out on top. Maybe, if we just thought about it for awhile, the question would come up "What, EXACTLY, are we supposed to win?"
