First, always try on shoes late in the day. Your feet have a chance to swell normally and you will get a shoe that fits. Your shoes shouldn't slide up & down on your heel when you walk, feel too tight around the instep, or pinch your toes. Try both shoes on when you walk in them to see how they feel.

you would walk in them and if your heel does not come out of the shoe it fits well. also if the shoe is comfortable

You should have a two finger margin from your big toe to the tip of the shoe.
