I like the name Kermit a lot. But you know... there is Kermit the frog. Do you think that in the next 10 -15 years if I name a kid of mine that that he would be laughed at when he is older because of Kermit the frog or will that name be considered an average name and not laughed dat?

I used to thing that Kermit was on Sesame Street until my brither told me he was on the Muppets. IT's funny though... I used to watch Sesame Street all the time and I didn't know that! Maybe Kermit was like a guest of Sesame Street sometime maybe?

Ugh! I HATE the name Pinoccio! That movies scares me every time I see it! And I think that Olive Oyl is a beter name then Popeye! (I have a stuffed animal monkey named Poppy that has a sailor suit. I never realized that Poppy was close to Popeye. Its so funny.)

i think it's not that a great of a name to name one of your kids. Maybe a pet, but not a child.

Kermit??? I use to watch the muppets and that is definitely what comes to mind when I hear the name. The muppets aren't such a big thing anymore though so I doubt that most kids would associate Kermit with the muppets. Even if it isn't though I don't think that it would be considered an average name at any point.

I wouldn't risk it. Kids are cruel. I have a son in middle school who has, what I consider, a normal name and is a normal kid and the other kids still find reasons to tease him. Besides, the muppets have been around for decades so I would imagine in 10-15 years people will still associate the name Kermit with a frog. Unfortunately, being teased in school is something most kids have to endure to some degree but I wouldn't give the other kids any ammunition. When a child is made to feel bad about himself by his peers it has long lasting effects.

I know a man that is probably close to 60 years old and his name is Kermit. I have a hard time with it because all I can think of is Kermit the frog. wouldn't personally recommend naming a newborn that.

I don't know that the Muppets are going out of style any time soon. They're pretty much a staple, therefore your kid is going to most likely get the "Kermit the Frog" tease for life. Its a cute idea (and original names are always nice) but I would stay away from this one! You could always nick-name a kid Kermit and then as they get older they'll have choices as to what they want to be called.

Why not name the kid something else and then call him that as a nickname? I think Kermit the Frog will be around for a long time, and you don't want to saddle your poor son with a name that'll cause him grief throughout his life. But I think it's a really cute nickname.

Kermit is a good Greman name, but most of these people are right and your baby will most likely be harrassed.
My Neighbor has a co-worker named Kermit so there are people here in the U.S. who have the name.

i don't think that would be a good idea. name the kid somthing else. even if the kids don't know kermit you can be sure the teacher will.
if you love the name kermit so much, buy the kid a dog and name the dog kermit. this way you still have the name kermit.

To be completely honest with you I would probably be one of those ppl making fun of him. I'm not trying to be rude but it is an akward funny name. I say that unless you want your child to be traumatized for the rest of his life you should better come up with something else.

*** This is for the person who posted the comment before mine: just to let you know Kermit was not on Sesame Street hun!!***

Knowing this world in 10-15 years Kermit will still be on TV so I wouldnt take me chances on having my kid be made fun of for that. There are lots of good names out there try another. :)

Well, I think that in kindergarten, kids will think that its cool that hes named after kermit the frog. One problem. They probably won't be showing The Muppets then, so he will be teased. And as he gets older, no offense, and God Forbid, he might commit suicide because of the name. Try to think of some other names you like, some names that you're child will love. Of course, it is you're choice.
