Oh my god if you're stressed or depressed or miserable or anything you really need to do this. You just need to get off the computer and get out of the house, go somewhere and have a day to yourself. Just go out, go shopping, and buy yourself something, and buy yourself some lunch or something. I had the best day. I took the SATS early in the morning, got out at one and went for lunch and shopping. It was great, I didn't have to see or think about my condescending assho le parents or my condescending assho le friends, I just got up early, took the test, rewarded myself by going shopping, going to the mall, buying myself lunch, buying myself a smoothie, and you talk to people and they arent condescending, they treat you like a normal person. Seriously, if you're miserable, get away from the computer and the people you know and just have a day for yourself. I haven't been this happy and satisfied in almost a year. Has anyone else ever had an experience like this? I have to do this more often. I feel like I can put things in perspective for the first time in months because for just a few hours I could get out of this cycle of anxiety and depression.

trust me dear...I think at some point we all figure this one out. I'm a single dad and it becomes overwhelming at times. My son goes to his moms maybe everyother weekend...and that's a maybe. I'm nearly 47 years old..son is nearly 12..we have birthdays 3 days apart. My daughter lives with mom and mom's husband...she's 17...but when she needs something..who does she call? dad that's who. So trust me....getting away when I can is a pure pleasure. Sometimes I just get in the car on my weekend off...if I'm not working which I work alot of weekends too...and just go get a room. If you think the SAT's was tough...wait until real life hits you upside the head...then you will enjoy what you are talking about more than ever.

Never lose sight of your free time...even when you are married and have kids...always set some time aside for the little pleasures of being alone...other's may think you are being selfish..but we all need it...and to treat yourself...as noone really knows what you want but you...is a great pleasure in itself...keep it going...

Good luck on the rest of your life...you made one big step on the road to being happy

I totally agree... sometimes it is wonderful to just go out into the world for a day... its refreshing. I find it works better when the destination is a new place you haven't been to before.
