According to this site sudden emotions and thought patterns can cause the aura to expand in bursts. Before you went to the reader did you have an argument with a loved one? Did some one take your parking space or some one rude and pushy cross your path? Passion is red (anger, intense love), deception is brown (did you tell yourself that the argument meant nothing or the pushy rude people did not offend you? well, they did).

So here is my scenario: You may have an ongoing disagreement with someone, the area in which you were in was crowded and someone pushed you, or someone cut you off in traffic. Meanwhile the reader has been dealing with clientele all day long and has not had a chance to clean and protect their personal space (read that, aura). The reader sees your reddish brown spikes (sort of a pulsing expansion) and misinterprets because they are tired and you are a bit cranky but excited about the coming encounter.

It's nothing as drastic as everyone make sit out to sound. it means you are simply out of balance. You'll whole aura is a mass of chaos with no order or discipline. Have you noticed being tired a lot or having a lot of things explode around you and you feel as if you have no control about it at all?
