When we were at the beach in the ocean my mom told me too. And also to pee in the shower (but only in our house one). That is very nasty, I know, but I stopped both a long time ago. But now that I think of it, I'm going to use the shower that no one else uses from now on....imagine being in a shower that someone peed in minutes before *shudder*
And when I was really young (like 4), I'd be scared to get up in the middle of the night and go across the hall to the bathroom, so I'd hold it until it was light, or dash across, although once or twice I'd end up peeing in my bed because I could not hold it and I was too scared to get up. I'd literally spend several hours debating when to get up. And once I peed in a paper cup that I kept by my bed.
God I was a disturbed child. But if I ever have kids I swear I won't let them act like that.

No, but to those who are thinking ewwww, lets think about this...
Pee is 95% water, 2.5 urea, and 2.5% salt, hormones, minerals, and enzymes.
So truthfully, it isn't all that bad for you. It contains no viruses, fungi, nothing.
Did you know that urine is cleaner than spit? Imagine it. You are swimming and get some water in your mouth, so you spit it out. Spit can contatins bacteria and is filthy.
Also, think of aaalll those chemicals in the pool. Chlorine and other chemicals that the pool is treated with EVERY DAY! You think swallowing those chemicals is good for you? Sure, I would rather not drink urine, but compared to everything else in that pool...

I don't know. I used to pee in the pool when I was younger but now I think it is disgusting. But I do pee when swimming in lakes because... It's a lake, it's much bigger than pool so it will get diluted... plus lakes are filthy already.

Never. Other people swim in the pool and some people have a tendency to swallow the pool water, and I doubt they really want to drink someones urine.

No. My parents were considerate of others who don't like it when people pee on them.
