A HOOK-UP is a connection between two or more things, places or people using electronic equipment. Example : The Authority hopes to bring a live telecast from Madrid via the satellite hook-up.
The word is also used figuratively meaning connection or meeting. Example : I hope to arrange a hook-up (meeting) with her business associates then next time I'm in town. Each campsite has electric, water and sewage hook-ups (connections).
