i am having some roofing done at my house and i want to lay some poly sheeting on some small rooms. i am planning to tape the poly to some sections of the wall but i dont want the paint to peel off when i remove the tape? which tape is good for this type of job?

Unless you're dealing with delicate surfaces (which you are probably not), normal masking tape works just fine. In fact, that was the original idea of masking tape- these new painter's tape things are just a way for them to charge more money for the same idea.

contrary to what one of the other answerers said, don't use regular masking tape unless you test it in an out of the way corner of the room first, and even then you're not guaranteed no paint will adhere to the tape upon removal. Painters tape is your best option. Blue in color, it is available at any specialty painting outlet or major home improvement warhouse. One thing, though. It's not as sticky as regular tape, and therfore won't hold up as much weight.

when you remove regular masking tape pull slow and have the tape at a sharp angle and it will come off without the paint. I have never used painters tape

Painters tape. it wont peel the paint and wont leave tape residue.

there is a special masking tape just for that. it is called painters tape. it is usually blue in color and comes in varying widths

GO TO A HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE AND ASK AN ASSOCIATE TO HELP YOU. SOMEONE IN THE PAINT DEPARTMENT WILL KNOW .THERE ARE MANY CHOICES.
