My girlfriend enjoys having orgasms and I love helping her reach them. One interesting thing is that she kind of shuts down after her orgasm is done. It's more like a guy I guess... "OK.... I'm done, now get off..." Now it is not really THAT drastic, however we both joke about how it is very similar to that statement. So I guess I am wondering if that is a common experience. We have thought that maybe there are some unconscience thoughts that occur after orgasm that cause the shut down.

What is nice is that you are talking about it. It is also nice that you can joke with each other. It seems to me like we have to urge her into realizing that it takes two of you and that although it is common for the man to only think of himself and leave the woman unattended to. She may be a little more sensitive that she reciprocates.
I don't think it is the unconscious thoughts that cause her to shut down as much as the need to think outside of herself.
Since you have communication and humor in your relationship, it is indeed an achieveable goal. It that doesn't work, you will have to resort to a woman's trick... Withhold your affection and don't be so generous in helping her achieve them... just for awhile until a BALANCE is reached.

That's usually true with older married women but younger ones tend to want to cuddle or something afterwards. But everyone is different. Have you ever tried to give her a massage after an orgasm then try to get her back in the mood somehow.

It my experience it varies. One girl I know likes to be pounded (her words) after she cums while others are too sensitive down there. But it's very common that you both need to come to feel sexually fulfilled. If she loses interest after an orgasm then I guess you need to get there first then take care of her.

It is really not shutting down but more like crashing after such a euphoric high. It is better to come down gradually than to just stop. It is probably a common experience for those who do not know how to come down gradually.

Sometimes it is a bit exhausting for a women to get "there." It takes a lot of mental focus sometimes and can be tiring. While it is physically tiring for you guys, it is mentally tiring for some women. That's probably why your girl goes into meltdown mode after getting a big O.
