i would put it up about 2 weeks before xmas, you dont have to wrap it just keep it in a shelter place like a garage or a shed where it has breathing room, you dont need to wrap it. the tree will last longer if you dont. but dont put it in your house before december 1st it will dry out and die. keep it watered but thats all you have to do. moisture is good for the tree. good luck

Leave in New England as well. Depends on how healthy the tree is. If the tree is in decent condition, it can last up to 1 month or more before showing signs of withering, and two weeks are usually the minimum amount of time that the tree would look great. Also, once you cut the tree from it's roots, there are really little you can do to keep it alive, so I won't even bother. Hope this helps.
