Please help trying to download movies which are avi but they wont play, no pic or sound

Download the GSpot Codec Information Appliance [ http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ ]. It will be able to tell you what codecs any AVI file will require. It will also tell you whether or not your computer says it can play the file. If the file does not play, search the internet for the appropriate codecs.
As the earlier person suggested, DivX is more than likely the video codec you need. It should still be playing the sound, though - just no picture. So give the codec information program a try and see what it says. You might be missing an audio codec, too.

Open your WMP, go to tools, options, file types, click Select All, Apply, OK. Hope that helps. Good Luck.

More than likely you need to add the divx codecs. Go to download.com and download divx and everything should work fine.
