I have the Evenflo Titan Deluxe, rear facing up to 30 lbs, forward facing up to 40 lbs: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-5/qid=1165105312/ref=sr_1_5/601-2807186-8412930?ie=UTF8&asin=B000F8HFK0

And it has very high ratings from Consumer Reports (price is good, too)

There are quite a few that you could get, though...
Britax Roundabout (comes in TONS of prints and colors), rear facing up to 33 lbs: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=sc_pfp_r_4_0_1041910/601-2807186-8412930?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000BH1YIY

Britax Marathon, up to 33 lbs: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_9/601-2807186-8412930?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000F3OEEK

Evenflo Triumph, up to 30 lbs: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_5/601-2807186-8412930?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000A3D5MM

Here are more, both rear facing up to 30 lbs:
http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_7/601-2807186-8412930?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000F6WMSW

Also check www.consumerreports.com for safety ratings. This is SO important!! And remember the local fire dept can install or inpect your car seat for free!! It's worth the time!! 80% of car seats are improperly installed. And please leave your child rear facing until she is one year old!! This is so much safer!!

This is the Graco website for rear-facing car seats for babies who weigh 22 to 30 pounds. Toys R Us, Target, and Walmart would be good places to look for this item.

Here are some safety tips about children/car seats/safest place to sit that parents (including me, 20 yrs ago) should know:

"Young children (age 12 and under) should never be placed in a seat with an airbag. They should be properly buckled in a child's seat in the back seat only!

Some facts about airbags include:

+ They inflate and start to deflate three times faster than the average person can blink his or her eyes.
+ They can inflate at speeds of up to 200 mph.
+ They can only be used one time if ever activated and then must be replaced.
+ They are extremely reliable, and the possibility of accidental inflation is very unlikely. . .

. . .On-off switches are also available for airbags. An on-off switch can deactivate driver or passenger airbags. Vehicles without rear seats or with small rear seats, such as pickup trucks and sports cars, may have a passenger side on-off switch as standard equipment. You can get authorization from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to have an on-off switch installed by a dealer or repair shop if you:

+ Cannot avoid placing a rear-facing infant seat in the front seat. . .
+ . . .Cannot avoid situations, such as carpools, that require a child 12 or under to ride in the front seat. "

in case you ever took precalculus or another math classification which covers houses of applications, you basic techniques to make sure the area of the function. between the pink flags to seem out for is once you divide by 0. on your expression, even as x = 3, the denominator is 0. therefore, the area is each and every huge style beside 3. regrettably, the large style you attempt to plug in (x = 3) is the purely huge style that doesn't artwork in this function. to work out this time-honored hand, you0 can graph this function on a TI-80 3. in case you zoom in on the point of the graph at x = 3, you'll see there's a sparkling spot there! it truly is because, as stated above, there purely isn't a cost of the expression at x = 3. you could say, properly it appears that evidently like the answer should be 6, searching on the graph. this idea of what the answer "should be" is what limits are all about. The values of the function on the left and perfect of x = 3 all bypass in the route of 6 as you seize up with and closer. So we are saying the reduce as x is going to three is 6. So even though it isn't technically the answer, 6 is your perfect determination. 0 is purely no longer impressive in any experience. the very perfect answer is to say that the expression is undefined at x = 3. This situation illustrates why 0/0 is called indeterminate. in this example, 0/0 in a way equals 6. the concept 0/0 can equivalent something is surely the essence of calculus.

You'll need to get a convertible car seat that is for babys that are heavier. I know the alpha-omega is pricey, but it is one that goes rear facing to 35 lbs. Have you tired the web? store.babycenter.com has lots of carseats, and a lot of them are on sale.
Alpha-omega, rear facing to 35 lbs.
Evenflo Triumph DXL rear facing to 30 lbs.
Britax (while even pricier than the others) rear facing to 30-33 lbs (depending on the model).
Eddie Bauer Delux to 30 lbs
Fisher Price Safe voyage to 33 lbs.
At 20 lbs, she can still be in her infant seat, but you'll need to get her one soon.
All of these carseats cost between 100-300 bucks, but it is a small price to pay for your childs safety. If you can't afford a car seat, inquire about where you can get one for free at your local police department.

They make whats called "convertable" car seats. They are for infants 5lb-40lbs and can be rear facing and forward facing as well. This is what we had to use for my son because he was to long to be in a carrier seat. when he turned 1 we switched it to forward facing. Ours was Graco I belive and we got ours at wal mart for around $80. They will work till the baby is 40 lbs.

we have a britax first class si seat, this is both a rear facing seat and forward facing, has good recline function too.
Its also got side impact protection.
The britax website is great for establishing where to put in the car and which cars it fits, have to register though. Useful if occasionally you need to transfer to another car.
Got ours in Mothercare, link below is for Boots as good, detailed write up.
2nd link has some price comparisons.

Hope helps, our 2 1/2 year old is still in hers.

I know you need to be rear facing till one....however by 10 months we had to put my son front facing because he was too tall for rear facing. His feet were pushed up against the seat, not very comfy for him.
