I have a video that stops playing on very short intervals? So it doesn't play smoothly.?

It is movie file basically and I also tried K-Lite , so what should I do? I am not happy with that since it is distracting.

video format? streamed? hard disk? CD/DVD?

Have you tried to run the video in some one other's PC. If it is running the same way there also, then, the video is of a poor resolution and you wont be able to help much. Try running it in Windows media player at 50% zoom instead of 100% or more.
