It sure would help for you to include some additional information about distance and intensity and the type of feet you have, and whether you have any feet issues. All this plays a part in what kind of shoe you need. The key is to find the perfect shoe type for you as well as the lightest one.
I have high arches and am prone to achilles tendonitis so I need lots of cushion. I find Asics & Saucony to be excellent shoes, as well as some I bought at "Just For Feet" which have coil springs in the heel and forefoot.
Don't settle for the cheaper models as they are made to sell to the masses. Go to a sports shoe or running store and look for the higher-end models. Good Luck
P.S. New Balance is a great shoe also that comes in different widths. I always found NBs to be heavier than other shoes. But how can I complain about NB when I finished my one and only marathon in them???
