Yeah. You don't have anything to lose. It would be nice to bring it up to 1500+
(I had the equivalent of what would now be about 1900-2000 and I still didn't get accepted at my first choice school, grades are important too)

It depends upon what school you want to attend. But as a general rule I would say yes because the SAT school will show on many college transcripts.
The SAT shows you achievement level. That is why I say that.

has the SAT been restructured? used to be 1600 points max. 1300 was always a good high score. i scored 1380 back in the day, and the good schools came a-knockin. at the time i think my score was 96th percentile

Well, yes if you are willing to study and prepare yourself and no if you aren't.
Do prepare yourself for it. It's no use if you don't have any preparation. trust me.
