The sox did not offer him arbitration, the deadline was midnight last night so as of right now Mark Loretta is a free agent and can be picked up by any team. Since the sox didn't offer him arbitration it is most likely he will not be back on the team this year.

No I am sorry to say it does not look like he will be back. Here is the latest news on him at MLB.com.

Nov. 21: Loretta gets the feeling that it's very unlikely the Red Sox will re-sign him. Loretta told The Boston Globe that it was his understanding that the club is all but certain to give the second base job to prospect Dustin Pedroia. Loretta's hometown Padres may have interest after trading young Josh Barfield to Cleveland. Loretta knows the team and the stadium well and was a popular Friar before heading to Boston.

He is a free agent. The Red Sox plan is to go with a younger and cheaper 2nd baseman next year. Get used to the name Dustin Pedroia playing 2nd base in 2007.

Sorry, i'm going to could disagree with you on that one. Being a purple sox enthusiast myself, i will't look to get previous that warm finding pitcher....i think of his call is Josh Beckett! permit's not ignore that the purple Sox would be incredible next three hundred and sixty 5 days!

Unfortunately, it looks like Mark Loretta is gone. Too bad. That walkoff home run on Patriots Day is one to remember. It's on the link below.

He's neither gone nor their. He is a free agent and can be resigned by the Red Sox or sign with another team.

He's a free agent. The Sox are waiting to see who they sign for the team before they know whether they can re-sign him.
