I've heard everything from put him out to help him beat his addiction. I'm at a point where I just can't take any more of this. He lies, he steals, and he doesn't respect the house or me.He says his addiction has nothing to do with me. He puts down the people who want to help him and the people who don't care about him, he holds way up high on this pedestal. What should I do?

It depends if you love him and care about him, and he is telling the truth about his addiction. He is sick, he may not say it or show it but you are probably the only one he can count on. The drugs take over his life, EVERYTHING else comes second. Most drug users don't care about themselves so they don't believe that anyone else does either. nothing you can do or say will change this. His lying and stealing isn't done to hurt you it is done out of necessity. Only he can make the decision to stop and get help. You need to decide if you care about him enough to be there when he does.

His addiction may have nothing to do with you, yet it affects you. If he don't make you feel like you want to go home, you need to show him the door; If you try to help him, he won't apreciate it either because that addiction is the most dominant thing in his life; it's his god, his woman before you and his reason for living; If he's doing all these things, then without further ado, let him know that your making changes and he HAS to go; get the po po's involved if you have to; but show him the door or you find somewhere else if that is an option. Sorry to hear- he does what an addict does- and also the blame game- they live for the drug= he needs to go to Teen challenge- they also take adults in 20s and 30s in many places- if not leave it or the stealing and lies will continue- D

Honey, you need to get out of this situation immediately. You have tried to help already and it hasn't worked. You are only going to end up hurting yourself if you stay with him and involved with him. His addiction probably doesn't have anything to do with you- but if he's lying, stealing from you and putting you down, he obviously is not able to care for you while he's like this. You sound like a smart and educated woman- please take care of yourself.

Leave him, leave him, leave him! I am all about helping people get back on their feet, but you have obviously tried. I was in your same position 6 years ago and I kept telling myself he needed me to get thru this and I wanted to help him. Honey, sometimes ain't nothing gonna help them. You have tried, now you gotta look out for yourself. He will only bring you down with him. Get out before he ruins your life any further. If he is on it that bad he won't be comin off anytime soon. Look around you right now and ask yourself if this is what you want for your future. Does it make you cry? You just need to thank God you don't have any kids with this loser and get out while there are no strings pulling you back. I cannot emphasize enough to get out. PLEASE! I don't know you but I know you're situation and you have got to believe me, don't stay. I stayed way to long but I finally got out and it is SOOOO much better. You can have better! Being on your own you can have better! GET OUT!!!

Give hime an ultimatum. Tell him that he has to go to rehab TODAY, or you're leaving him. If he refuses to go, follow through with that threat and dump him. By letting him stay with you, you're just enabling his addiction and his bad behaviour. It's not a healthy situation for either one of you.

It looks like you both have an addiction to things that are harmful to you... his addiction is crack and your addiction is him..Ask yourself what it is that you see in him.
