Yes. Absolutely. Without a doubt. A UFO is an Unidentified Flying Object. If you have seen something in the sky that you cannot identify, then you have seen a UFO.

I think what you mean to ask is, "Can anyone truly say that there has been a sighting of spacecraft from other worlds?" The answer to that is "no".

So far we've seen no verifiable evidence of other sentient species. That said, I believe with some certainty that somewhere in our galaxy at some past, present, or future time, a sentient species did/does/will exist.

Why haven't we heard from them?

Perhaps they are not technologically advanced enough to be heard. They may be mastering stone knives right now, or experiencing their own Rennaisance.

Perhaps they are here right now. Any species sufficiently advanced to travel interstellar distances would be able to hide or masquerade with ease. That Boeing 737 that just flew by may be a surveillance craft.

Perhaps they are so far away they will never notice us and vice versa.

Perhaps they existed a million years ago and died out.

Perhaps they will exist a million years from now.

It is really impossible to know for sure.

The Drake Equation suggests that there is sentient life out there. The Fermi Paradox casts doubt. Play around with the calculation form at the second link and see what you think.

There have been many sightings of unidentified flying objects but whether they are visiting aliens is another question. However, the fact remains that the Universe is a HUGE place and there is a lot we don't yet know so we should neither dismiss the possibility out of hand nor claim that they really are aliens without more evidence. The truth is we don't know what unexplained UFOs are (by definition).

Light moves at 186000 miles per second and it takes about 7 hours to reach The edge of the solar system. We know there are no habitable planets in the solar system so anyone wanting to visit us is going to take a very very long time to get here. So while I suppose it is just possible that some alien life form as travelled the enormous distances involved it is highly unlikely. That is not so say UFOs do no exist because if you see something flying and you don't know what it is then it is a UFO by definition

Yes, there have been reports of mysterious Unidentified Flying Objects, through History ; even in Biblical times there were such sightings, e.g : The famous wheels which Ezekiel saw, as recorded in the Old Testament of the Bible.MOST of these sightings are clearly fakes, BUT some, a few of them are not hoaxes nor fakes .

Most UFO sightings are explained as aircraft or weather ballons, the rest remain a mystery....I would have to say there has to be an explaination for these too...But then again, I do believe in a higher life form then us...Have fun with it....and Bigfoot and every other unexplainable things that may come your way, this is what keeps us creative and lets our imaginations run wild for a while...

"Sightings" of ufo's are fairly commonplace and have been, evidently, since the beginning of recorded history. The ancient Egyptians, Mayas, Incans, Babylonians, et al all recorded sightings of anomalous "lights" in the sky. Alexander the Great reported lights swooping down from the sky and chasing his troops during his Indus River campaign. The Emperor Constantine, founder of the Byzantine Empire, attributed his victory to his observance of a great cross in the sky.

During the late 1800's in the US and across much of western Europe, sightings were made of aerial ships and craft, none of which were from any known earth nation or power.

During World War Two over the European theater, many US and British fighter pilots saw small "balls of fire" which they dubbed "foo fighters" following their planes across the continent.

In 1947 Kenneth Arnold, while flying his plane, noted 9 crescent shaped objects flying above the Cascade Mountains in Washington. He observed that these objects "skipped across the sky like saucers skipping across a pond" (paraphrase) - thus the name "flying saucers" was born.

From 1947, sightings across the planet have only increased, with huge mass sightings - "ufo flaps" - occuring every few years.

The US Air Force initiated their Project Blue Book investigation in 1952 ending in 1969. The stated objective of Project Blue Book was to determine if "ufo's" were a threat to the national security. By project's end in 1969, over 12,000 sightings had been investigated with over 700 remaining unexplained.

Sightings of unexplained lights in the sky and in space continue. NASA astronauts, airline pilots, military personnel and others from all walks of life report observing unknown objects and unexplained lights each year. Most reports from official sources such as NASA personnel, airline pilots and military officials are temporized because reporting such incidents can stigmatize the individual and adversely reflect on their career.

Some of the more widely reported recent mass sightings include the Phoenix Lights of March 1997, the Mexico City sightings of 1991 and 2005 and the Hudson Valley sightings of 1982 and 1983.

To more directly answer your question; "has (there) been sightings of ufos?", the answer is "yes". To answer your implied question "are these intelligently piloted alien craft?" would depend entirely on your state of belief. As they say: "To those who believe, no evidence is necessary. To those who do not, no evidence is enough."

yes. I saw what i saw and its important to remember that UFO means in its literal sense an unidentifiable flying object, not necessarily a space ship filled with little green men. The Blackbird spyplane and stealth bombers were black ops and many members of the public witnessed these military top secret aircraft and mistook them for alien UFO's. Remember, most if not all sightings are of man made UFO's.

If you mean space aliens then its a load of bollocks. UFO could mean anything from a lost balloon to a funny cloud though. If nobody knows what it is, its a UFO until somebody can be arsed to find out.

I saw one about 10 years ago, it was surreal. People are too quick to dismiss UFO sightings.
