Since you love children, perhaps you should consider teaching as a career. Some states are paying a premium for teachers. And if you want a challenge, teaching and molding little minds must be one of the greatest challenges you could have.

Hi Lauren,

Please do not be offended but your question made me laugh!

I am 61 and a sales manager for an electronics company, so there is an age difference.

I got into electronics because that was the training that I received in the military. I actually wanted to be a teacher and a coach, but had a family. Made MONEY, owned my own successful business and was able to coach for 20 years.

Look at what you are GOOD AT and GO FOR IT! If you are any good the money will come with PERFORMANCE; they aren't going to give you MONEY to show up.

An interesting thing about PERFORMANCE is that the corporate guys let you do WHAT EVER you want as long as you continue to PERFORM.

You are NOT going to make big MONEY in education or daycare so forget it.

Find something that PAYS, EXCEL and work with KIDS as a volunteer.

You get the check and get to fulfill your dreams at the same time.

You have all of these doctors and lawyers that are KILLING themselves because they got into it for the MONEY, BIG HOUSE, TROPHY WIFE and the rest. They turn 50 and realize that they HATE their job and are TRAPPED with financial obligations.

My suggestion is to select a major that you are HAPPY with and then define your lifestyle accordingly to fit the compensation available.

You can have ONE or the other but NOT BOTH!

Good Luck,
Jacques

Liberal studies...you can do anything with that major....you can go to grad school to be a doctor, lawyer, etc. You can get a teaching credential and teach multiple subjects. Liberal Studies is a challenge because you do not become an expert in any one particular subject, but you learn a little bit of everything, kinesthetics, music, art, culture, psychology, etc. Its an awsome alternative!
