I am a white girl and I don't think i'm better than any race, but I like being white. I am not by any means a racist but I am getting tired of the reverse-descrimination going on in today's society. In general, it is acceptable to make fun of white people in the media which i can appreciate if it is funny, but the minute someone mentions "the n word" the joke is over and there is suddenly a major controversy. Maybe my ancestors have done horrible things but i have never enslaved anyone or stolen anyone's land. Moreover, blacks are enslaving blacks in some parts of Africa even today. my sister just left for college and her black friend with worse grades and fewer extra-curriculars got into a better school that they both applied for. He was obviously never a slave. She could have gotten in for free if she were native-american. I know the colleges are trying to have a fair number of minorities, but when did equality become synonymous with undeniable racism? Can anyone explain this to me?

How is it not racist to exclude someone from college because of their skin color? Also, in our history, countless whites died in the civil war attempting to free blacks. No race is in debt to any other

Reverse discrimination always implies that you are being discriminated against as a result of some discrimination that you were guilty of.

This usually isn't the case, and it is just plain discrimination even if sanctioned by the law. Neither the people being discriminated against nor the people being given preference have earned what is being done to or for them.

It's all about what the politicians, our overpaid elected public employees think will get them reelected.

The concepts of racial guilt and racial superiority are wrong no matter which direction they are applied in.

With half a century of legally mandated discrimination behind us we have to admit that the success rate indicates that another approach is needed. Starting with accountability of individuals for their actions.

Reverse discrimination describes discriminatory policies or acts that benefit a historically socio-politically non-dominant group (typically women and minorities), at the expense of a historically socio-politically dominant group (typically men and majority races). The term is sometimes considered rhetorical, attempting to create a non-existent distinction within the broad problem of discrimination.

It is not okay to be racist against anyone. You do have a point dear but I'm not sure this is such a highly viewed activity as you feel it is. I know there are companies that still honor Affirmative Action and there are schools that are trying to fulfill government grants by fulfilling their racial quota. It isn't fair to those who actually have earned that particular entrance into the school or job. The most qualified candidate should always be chosen.

Regarding the "n" word, the same comedians that make fun of whites make fun of their own culture. I don't think there is discrimination in joke land as they have all seemed to find some sort of humor in everyone's culture. These jokesters are equal opportunity clowns.

By the way, none of the slaves were accepted in any white colleges. Black universities had to be formed in order for them to get to college and there was no affirmative action at that time. And isn't it wonderful that so many became doctors to save anyone's "would-be racist" behind.

I know exactly what your talking about. It's a symptom of a disease that has affected our society since the late 60's. Shelby Steele called it "White Guilt." He wrote an excellent book by the same name. Basically he says that whites have a vacuum of moral authority based on our ancestors sins, so we as a society feel a need to trade favors for nothing more than the appearance of being 'not racist.' Our burden is now to prove a negative. I highly recommend his book, he's incredibly intelligent. He's black, by the way, and grew up in the segregated 50's, and the civil rights era of the 60's. I like your question- do you have a boyfriend?

I agree, but I don't think white people should be allowed to use the 'n' word as WELL as black people. Surely if they call each other that, then why can't other people do it to? Why is it so insulting if it is a non black person using that word. By using it, they show non black people that using the work is okay, and it really is not.

I also heard about this joke:
"black said to me this morning.
when i was born i was black.
when i burn, i'm black
when i grow up i'm black
when i go in the sun i'm black
when i am cold i'm black
when i'm scared i'm black
when i'm sick i'm black
and when i die i'm black.

and you white Lady
when you are born you are pink
when you grow up you are white
when you go in the sun you are red
when you are cold you are blue
when you are scared you are yellow
when you are sick you are green
and when you die you are grey.

and ya know what you call me coloured...... "

and i think that them saying that to the white woman is being just as racist. It just should not matter full stop! White, Black, Asian, or ANYTHING else.

It's actually not okay to be racist against whites or anyone else.

But in that little scenario of yours, that's not racism. Trust me, if your sister's friend got into that school but wasn't qualified to, he either lucked out (which is likely), or that school has serious acceptance issues. That doesn't demonstrate racism.

And making fun of white people is not racism either, nor is making fun of black people. Calling a white person cracker and a black person the "n" word, that's when it becomes racist.

But again, no, it's not okay to be racist toward white people.

Yawn. Same boring question not even original. Same ole thing i am not racist, i love being white, everyone says it's okay to make fun of whites but not blacks, all my black "friends" get bad grades but get into good schools. Yada yada yada. You forgot to mention all those black men who sell drugs and have a bunch of babies and not be married you know that script you all follow when you feel that as being white you are not getting everything and black are just getting scraps. Don't hold back now let it loose we've all heard it all before, you are not the first last or anywhere in the middle.

As a culture we really want blacks to step up a little, they bring us down, as is our own doings. We offer them this as a sign of respect, trying to give them a boost...I believe most Americans would prefer to have blacks and whites living with similair values and ideals...A mesh of unity, but the problem arises when we try to figure out the hows of creating equality between blacks and white. Some argue that blacks need to pull themself up by the bootstrap do a little forgiving and get with the program. Another might be that they are so wounded by their seperation from the culture that they are not capable of meshing and need more respect/help from whites.... It is part of my religion to have compassion and be giving so I believe we should give more aid and support especially for the children of this generation, maybe we can heal wounds that way.....

it's ok for you to get upset and everything, but how often are white people made fun of in the media compared to any other race. white people are always shown on the covers of magazines and are the ones who a majority of the time, are shown on tv. white people are always given so much credit for everything they do or say. so why are you so upset?

also, when white people are made fun of, they're usually not described by a racist term. so how can you compare that to someone using the n word? there's no comparison.

Test scores for government and state jobs in Illinois had to
lower standers because blacks were unable to pass the test. If you can not pass the test , you can not do the job........................
This is why your sisters friend is going to the better school .
Just hope it isn't a medical school.
