You would have to TRY the both to find out, since the service in your area will vary. But you can look up your location at http://www.dslreports.com and find out what people in your are getting for Speed.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

Comcast doubled its upstream cable modem speeds from 384 Kbit/s to 764 Kbit/s, complementing its existing 6-Mbit/s download speeds for $42.95 monthly.

FiOS has basic combinations of 10-Mbit/s downstream and 2-Mbit/s upstream for only $34.95 per month, as well as a 20-Mbit/s by 5-Mbit/s offering for $44.95 monthly.

Comcast also pitches a new 16 Mbit/s downstream and 1-Mbit/s upstream service for $10 more per month than its basic cable Internet offering.

So...which to choose? Comcast never requires a contract. Verizon ALWAYS requires a contract.

Clearly Comcast is the answer.

Dollar for Dollar Verizon FiOS delivers faster speeds. However, unless you are in a market that offers FiOS TV service as well, then you are better off with a bundle package with Comcast.

Comcsat is not nearly as fast. Currently Verizon FiOS is offer ing 15Mbps speeds for 44.95/mo. Comcast is only offering 8Mbps at $52.95/mo.

I have used both, I fix people's computers. Both Verizon fiber optics and cable are very fast! I am having problems with my Verizon, so maybe this isn't the best time to answer! All in all though, I still trust Verizon more than I do a cable company! As far as performance, both are comfortably fast!

Comcast is faster in most cases, but it depends on where you live.
