Because it looks good. "Hey, look, I'm helping the less fortunate, on Christmas!" sounds good when boasting about good deeds.

I think first you need to spend some time among the homeless and get to know them. Then your question might be when are the homeless going to start caring about themselves. Don't get me wrong. I believe they need help and I am involved in some programs that help them, but don't try to make people feel guilty if they don't contribute. The majority are there by there own mistakes and a lot of them don't want a better life unless it's handed to them on a platter and they don't have to do any work to get it.

Leave it out, love. I help the homeless at Christmas because that's when I have time. I volunteer with an animal charity the rest of year. I can't believe you are whingeing about people who are helping that they are not doing enough. Sorry, this question is infuriating. Good people who are helping and you make them feel like crap. Good one. Well done.

Christmas is all about giving to others. Most do not care about the homeless regardless of the season. Don't criticize those who give, even if only once a year.

Do you only think about the homeless at Christmas? I think about them all the time and so does the Red Cross, The Star of Hope, and every other shelter, etc. It is just that the shelters use the holiday season to pull on the heartstrings of EVERYONE, not just those who regularly give money or clothing, etc. Do you only think about Independence Day on July 4th, or is it just that we think about it as a WHOLE COUNTRY on July 4th?

you're kind of tarring everyone with the same brush aren't you?
just because you might only think of the homeless at christmas, doesnt mean to say everyone else does. you should really check your facts before making assumptions in the future.

No idea, but it is a shame for someone to be on the streets at christmas in comparison to any other day

That's not so. There are many people who help the homeless all year long. Those who do it only at Christmastime are too into themselves to think of others.
