ihad a dvd rom drive then added a dvd r-rw made it slave to the dvd rom master how would they be plugged in from the mother board.

Makes no difference. The machine will power up first, check the memory and self test, then follow the boot sequence.

Both of the drives will be powered up by then.

Each will have a power connector from your power supply. One is the master and one is the slave. You just attach from your motherboards IDE controller with a ribbon cable. The other end of the cable will have 2 connector on it, connect each one to one drive in the order that best makes the cable fit.

The correct order it to attach the master drive to the end of the cable and the slave in the middle.

It does not matter what power connector (P4, P5, P6, etc.)

on the ribbon that goes from the mother to the dvd, the first one should be master and the last one should be slave, but make sure u have change the jumper to slave.
