Don't be shocked by your estimate. You also need to get several estimates. The labor alone cost me close to $1500.00. All in all it ended up running me close to $5000.00.

1st. Think about having your ducts cleaned its a great time to do so.
2nd Have the A/C-Heating company put on an Air-Bear style Air Filtration System, as well as an Humidifier I prefer one with no stagnant water something that cycles to clean itself

3rd Really consider a BRYANT "EVOLUTION" System
the reason for this is i have had so many customer tell me how happy they were as well as the satisfaction with the energy savings. this thing will dehumidify your house and the Summer as well as A/C and Heating.
Look to pay a little but more but the recovery time on your investment and comfort are well worth it.

I see people spend more on painting the interior of there house than they do for there health and well being.

--rough estimates--
outdoor condenser $800 +
Evaporator Coil (indoor A/C $500
Furnace (Gas) $800- $1200
Air Filter $150 give or take
misc. piping, sheet metal, etc. $500.
Duct Cleaning $500.

On the inside I would say around $1500.00 the outside about $2500 and change.
I was just looking at some very nice units at Home Depot and installed, it wasn't bad. I hope you've checked around places like Home Depot. They handle Trane, one of the best and back them up.

At a wild guess, several thousand dollars. Since the outside unit (compressor) is okay, that will keep the cost down. Since you evidently have already contracted for the work, you should know the price from the contract.
