I just been in Chicago for 6 months in college as a part of an exchange program, and i had no problem to speak and mingle with white people, and i couldn't figure why hispanic people living there are so afraid just to go to downtown, i mean it's not all of 'em but i think it's close to 85% to 90%.

i'm not saying that U R racist, but for me people looks afraid to aproch to american culture, and of course that only happens with illegal inmigrants, so i think they just should go with the flow, they r in the US because they like the american way of life, isn't that true?

that really makes me feel bad to hear that. Our Mexican American people are hard working and kind. It is very sad when they are made to feel that this isn't there country to. it is to bad when racist feelings are in this country when our country was founded by immigrants. I think we should celebrate our diversity.
That is what makes this country great.

I suggest you take a class in statistics before coming up with such wild speculations. You have been in Chicago for six months and really believe you speak for the experience of 85% to 95% of the city's Hispanics ? Careful, your soapbox is tilting.

maybe they know immigration is there. There are no taco trucks and there are no fruit venders walking around with fruit on sticks. What would be the point of going downtown. Plus they are too busy in the stores shopping spending the money they made mowing lawns.

Well, for one thing you can stop referring to "hispanic people" when you mean mexican illegal immigrants. The majority of hispanics in this country are puerto ricans. And 100% of us are americans and fully integrated into mainstream society. None of the people I know, who would call themselves hispanic would ever think that way. And I lived in Chicago for a decade of my life.
