You are getting the wrong answer because you are trying to divide meters by centimeters. Convert it to centimeters. The floor is 500 x 2000 cm. That means it's 1,000,000 cm^2. The tiles are 20 x 20 cm, or 400cm^2. So it takes (1,000,000/400) = 2500 tiles to cover it.

If your textbook really says 25000 then you have a faulty textbook.

Sides = 20cm long Area = 20 x 20 = 400 cm2

100cm / 1m
Therefore, floor area = 1 million cm2

1 million cm2 / 400 cm2 = 2500 tiles.

By side 20 cm, it means that the tiles are 20 cm by 20 cm.

20 cm goes into 5m 25 times, and 20m 100 times. That means it will take 25*100= 2500 tiles.
