80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

The meaning to life is simple. To pass you DNA one more step into time as many times as possible. That is what brought the fishes from out of the deep and man into space.

The meaning of life is the overall impression you have of your own existence just before you die. Until then, the meaning can change a million times (or more). Oh, and the exact conclusion is different for each person - so no one but you will know "your" answer.

How do I know this? I guess I must have died once - before. ;-)

avoiding all religious stuff, just LIVE IT OUT! life is to live, and if u mess up the only one, then what's the point? have fun, joke around. obviously, do work so we won't be like homeless or somethin, but it's like Ferris Bueller. "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't turn around every once in a while, you might miss it."

Life is a wonderful gift from the creator of all that exists. It is our opportunity to experience love but also hate, joy but also sorrow, kindness but also selfishness, mercy but also injustice. You have important work to do during life and important choices to make concerning all of these experiences. Hopefully, you fulfill in your own way the flowering of your own spirit in your own unique way so that you may return to God as a spiritual being that is a wiser, kinder, more loving and in all other ways a closer representation of God who made us in his/her image.
