it plays music , videos , ect. it depends what ipod you buy
and if you meen download site for music then i say limewire (that is what im using)

You must purchase an Ipod. An Ipod itself is hardware that you will store data (songs, photos, etc.) and carry with you. The software used with the Ipod is called Itunes and can be download directly from Apple.com under the Ipod toolbar.
Ipods are basically anywhere from as large as a Palm Pilot down to near invisible. Many people use it for music which is heard through headphones included with the Ipod. You must first upload the music from your computer onto the Ipod. This is easy to do and there are many articles online that will explain how to do this. Also, chances are your Ipod will include an instruction manual that include detailed instructions and software for your computer.
I would visit department stores or look for good deals on the internet to find the best value. Ipods come in several different varieties. Find the one that you think will suit your daughter best.

the ipod comes with at program called itunes. It is not a free site but any music your daughter has on her cpu or on a cd can be loaded into the itunes and put on her ipod
The songs on itunes are about 99cents each
and you do not have to load a credit card or anything you just buy her an itunes card that has a certian amount of money on it and that is usedto buy the songs. If you have download site that is free those songs can be put right into your itunes after they are downloaded
