Usually maturity when relating to an older person is synonymous with wisdom, where being old is not a guarantee that one is wise.

Depends on the context. A five day old baby has matured five days since birth.
On the other hand, an old joke is a far cry from a mature joke.

Mature has to do with personal growth, someone with a good head. Old is just about age. You can be a really old fart and never be mature. You can be mature even if you are 5.

I saw this question on TV last night.. they were talking about wine. The guy said that old is just a number, mature is an attitude. I think that's what he said.

A matured person knows what are the right things. He has broad mind when it dealings with decision. He knows and do what are correct and think first before acting. While a old person has full of experiences. Classical persons they are. He was weak, but happy he reach that stage. Hope this helps!

Old is an age. Mature is a state of mind. I know a lot of older people who aren't mature enough to know some things aren't appropriate--like my sister's stupid soon-to-be-ex-husband who thinks public flatulence and racist jokes are cool.
