i use yahoo pool and viewd and saved a pic someone had on their profile , someone i have grown to know a bit but when i showed a friend the pic i was told it was a fake from a websight that she couldnt remember name of !

By validity, do you mean that it is of them, or that it's not copyrighted? Either way I don't think you can unless they happen to be searchable and a picture of them comes up.

Well,if you have been talking to this person for some time, then I'd stop mucking around, exchange phone numbers/addresses.and meet each other. Is your mate single? if so, perhaps she's got the hots for you and you don't notice it? xx

No. How would it work? If they were genuine and they took the picture with their digital camera, where would it be - except Yahoo!?
