Is this odd......??

Question

I have asked a few questions tonight on trust, and my last one about trusting people with secrets made me think. The answers were 99 % that people trust no one with ALL their secrets. However i do, i don't have one secret that no one knows, i tell more to 1 friend than i do to others so i do have some caution. But all my feelings and secrets are known by somebody.
Now i've been hurt more than anyone could realise, mentally and physically so its not naivety or innocence, so am i odd. Is it stupid of me to open myself up like this. I expect people to trust me as i am trustworthy so i give people the same respect back until they prove that they can't be trusted. Why do others seem to not be able to do the same. ??

If only there were!

But, because of this, don't think that you are odd- I think that you are a remarkable human with a great capacity for believing in people, especially given your past.

Don't change a thing about you based on what you think about others thoughts.

I know exactly how you feel. I have a couple of friends who I used to entrust with my deepest secrets before I moved away. I practically told them everything, and I completely trusted them. If you know that your friends are truly trustworthy, then you are not stupid telling them secrets, and they can support you through some of your problems. Try not to go too deep with secrets until you know how trustworthy your friends really are. My old friends used to tell me everything, and they still do when I talk to them on MSN. Try to be selective with people who have never revealed your secrets, and you will be fine. Also remember that people who tell you their secrets may not have the same respect for that as you do.

Well it's a good point i always treat people with trust and respect but there are alot of times when people don't show you the same back, do not get caught up on that fact though the problem isn't with you, all you can do is be strong and be yourself and in time others will learn.

I dont think that is odd, or that you are odd. You are just different than the people that you know. A lot of people can't tell at least one person ALL of their secrets and feelings. There are many things that I don't tell anyone. You are just one of those people whos book is more open. I think that that is really cool. It is just the way that you have chosen to live. Its not like oyu have to tell people everything, thats just what you chose to do and I admire you for doing that. :)

I'm happy that U feel this secure with the people around U. But for some reason I just can't bring myself to tell people ALL of my secrets, even my best friend doesn't know everything.

The answer is that the majority of people realise that when you are too honest and open with others you become vulnerable and they can use this to take advantage of you. I have the same problem you need to learn to protect yourself. I find people use things I tell them against me. Often out of context.

Not at all, there's trials and tribulations that people go through to BUILD UP a relationship.

You have to trust to be able to love, and if its not present then your in big trouble.
Remember alot of these people on the internet usually don't have to many friends.

Being hurt (mentally of physically) doesn't keep you from being naive...there are lots of people who simply never learn...it doesn't make you a bad person. Honestly I think the world could use a few more innocent people.

I don't think you are odd! I think many people find it difficult to trust others because they may be insecure. if only more people could be like you and be more trustful i think the world would be a better place!!

Can't answer that. I've only had people I could trust completely that I can count on one hand........and I never let anyone know my deepest and darkest secrets.
