Because everything they need and want is supplied to them, theres little stimulation, and its the only envrionment they know.
They dont know hunger, the need to breathe, discomfort, gas, noise, touch, light, temperature... all these things are new to them when theyre born, and its overwhelming.
Or as the lady below me pointed out, perhaps i should mention the INTENSITY of these things is new to them at birth, and very overwhelming.
Baby's in the womb do make unpleasant faces when loud noises or other things effect them. Faces much like crying. Theyre also physically unable to cry, there is no air in the womb, all their oxygen comes directly from the mothers blood supply.
Lol, the person above me is wrong. Babies can open their mouths and often do, they even swallow amniotic fluid regularly, they even get the hiccups and mimic the rise and fall of breathing.

They do cry. They make facial expressions. They laugh. They get angry. They have all kinds of expressions.
We don't "hear" them because the fluids muffle the sound. The vocal chords need air to be audible. The lungs provide the air needed. The lungs are not functional until the baby is born. (Lungs need surfactant. The surfactant isn't developed until right before birth. When they are born, they are able to inhale for the first time.) They are one of the last things to properly form because they are one of the last things they need because in the womb, they do not need air. The oxygen they need in the womb comes from their mother's blood.

It is so annoying to see people answer questions they no absolutely nothing about. Babies in the womb cannot cry because their lungs are filled with fluid, trust me I am a mother of 4 and have read every book out there. Babies live in amniotic fluid, which they do open there mouths and swallow amniotic fluid. They recieve there oxygen through the mothers blood, through the umbilical cord. They do hear, some even say, if a certain light hits the mothers belly, they can see it, yes they do respond to all, noise, touch, and light once they have reached a certain age in the mothers womb. Hope this helped
PS Has none of you mothers every rubbed your baby through your belly and that baby responded to touch, come on now?

Babies don't' cry because they don't know how to first. Second, they could swallow water and drown within the stomach. They don't' cry because they can't breath, the lungs are not working. They get oxygen via the unbibicord. They take that first breath of oxygen outside the wound and that is when they first cry.

nicely they were purely squeezed with the help of a delivery canal, they have a sucktion element put of their mouth to get each of the stuff out of their throat, i'm effective they seem slightly scared and wondered, and that i'd imagine it is quite chilly coming from the very warmth position to out contained in the international.

"because they are arent able to open their mouth"
so not true....during my sonogram my baby girl was sucking her fingers and yawning. babys dont take their first breath utill they are born. hence no air in their lungs yet.
Plus they want to save all their crying for when you can actually hear them.......lol :)

because they are in water probably. The reason why the cry when they come out is becuase they are clearing their lungs thats why doctors make them cry or else they will suffocate and die. ok?
