I have a bracelet that was given to me 20 years ago from a collector of early century bibles. He got this piece at an auction in Mexico 40 Years ago ... all he knew about the pice is that it used to belong to a Mayan Princess. It has a mayan caledar and several markings (stamps) on it.... can you tell me where I can get some more info on this piece?

Be careful.....if you do indeed have a real relic from Mayan times, the governments of Mexico and Guatemala may want to claim your bracelent as a 'national treasure' as they have been doing recently.

I would take some good pics and then email them to Mayan and pre-Columbian relic experts.......without giving your name!

If teh jewelry belonged to a Mayan Princess, you want to take good care of it.

Call or go to the museums in your city. Perhaps they have some Mayan work on display. Also, contact the museum curator and ask him/her to recommend someone familiar with Mayan jewelry that can appraise it for you.

Check with either Sothbey's or Christies auction house websites and if you know an archaeologist that will not report you check with them.
