I have tried several differen kinds of sippy cups. I've put formula in the sippy cup. I've put juice and water. Nothing has worked. Does anybody have any suggestions?

We've tried the Avent sippy ones that go on the bottles...she refuses. I even took the no spill valve out of the sippy cups to show her that liquid comes out if she tips them up. She still refuses. We've tried straws and she doesn't grasp that concept yet.

You might just have to wait a couple weeks or months and try again. Does he know he can get liquid out of it? Sometimes babies have a hard time understanding that they can suck on something other than a bottle and get the same effect.

Try a sippy with a flexible spout. That might help..

Also, avents sippy cups will take the avent bottle tops. This can help a lot in getting him used to sippies. Put a nipple on the sippy, and he can hold the cup and get used to it, and eventually you can swtich him over to a regular sippy lid.

basically bear in mind that your newborn using a sippy cup isn't a needed ability for something. it quite is purely a convenience for oldsters that don't choose messes. My son in no way did be taught the thank you to apply a sippy (he has extra desirable oral motor problems) yet he has been using a straw on account that he replaced into probable 10 months old. They do make the sippys that are extra like a bottle ideal yet it relatively is a competent thank you to transition him. It takes an entire distinctive variety of sucking trend to apply the sippy than the breast or bottle nipple. wait and spot and basically save attempting.

Your baby may not be ready. If you still want to try the sippy cup, statrt off giving your baby the sippy cup at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. When my son was a year old this is what I did, I gave my son a little more time to get him off the bottle at night. I have heard that a baby associates sucking as a comfort. Please try to be patient, not all baby's go from bottle to sippy cup at the same time.

I had the same problem with my daughter and I found Nuby cups they have a silicone top kind of like bottles but they have different tops you can use. The sport top worked best for her (they are the most like bottles and they open the door for others later) but I've had family members that had other nuby's work for them. I am also trying them on my 11 month old son today who before now refused any kind of sippy cup and he seems like he likes these too.

I wouldn't worry about it yet. My son is 10 months old and I give him a sippy with water every day, and he is not really good at it yet, but he's getting better. I would just keep offering it every day, but don't necessarily force it at this point. They will take it when they're ready. By the way, I have tried several brands, and I like the Nuby the best!

Well for my family.. once our nephew seen an adult take a sip from it to show him how to use it... he took right off and now we get can't him away from the darn thing haha.

Also... starting off with a few sips from a regular cup well encourage them to want their own cup... as well as putting a little juice on the tip of the sippy cup so they will taste it and try to drink from it.

well your baby may not be ready, so try not to push it. All you really can do is keep giving it to your baby at meal time, always try the cup first. eventually he/she will give it a shot. If the baby is in the high chair during dinner time and See's the rest of the family with their cups than he/she will probably gain interest. Good Luck

Well I'm not a mother but maybe you can tell your baby that if you drink from the sippy cup you will get a treat. I don't even know if your baby can talk yet. Maybe you can get a cup with a lid on it and him drink through a straw.
