I'm a little over 37 weeks pregnant and the last few days after I go to the bathroom there has been little white gooey pieces of something in the toilet (looks similar to a mans semen...sorry if this is nasty) but I know it isn't that, because my spouse and I haven't had sex in a while.
Is this my mucous plug coming out slowly, or something else?
I thought that the mucous plug was supposed to have blood in it, is that correct?

your natural mucus production will thicken and increase with pregnancy. Its probably that.
It could also be a yeast infection, or other infection, even without the smell or itching.
It might be bits of your plug, but there should be large chunks and blood involved.

It sounds like it might well be the start of it..you will probably get some blood stained mucous too before it is all over, although it doesn't ALWAYS happen that way.
Sorry if this is nasty? Yeah, it is, but you know what..it's going to get a whole lot nastier by the time the baby is born ! So, if this is your first..put away your self-respect and pride for a while (until you get to actually hold the baby)..because there's going to be a whole lot of people that have seen your exposed rear end by the time you take your lil-one home. Giving birth is one of the most wonderfully thrilling and thoroughly humiliating experiences a woman will, or can ever go through! Enjoy it...and good luck.

I have had 4 children, and yes you can start losing the mucous plug early, and it looks like everyone else says it looks, as your wait goes by, you should lose blood along with it, that usually occurs closer to time when baby wants to come, you are almost there, cause any natural sign is an absolute thrill, good luck with your new little one, hoped this helped answer your question

Iti doesnt always have to have blood in it, and also it will look like clear snot..... It could be the plug, but if it is even though they say that loabor will start in like 1-2 weeks, don't take it to seriously... I lost mine at 37 weeks, and I had to be induced at 41 weeks..... congrats though.. your wait is almost over!!! and when you lose it, it can happen a little at a time or in big chunks..... I started small, then I lost a big chink and that was it for me.

I never had it like that. I didn't know exactly when I lost my mucous plug but I knew it was lost because every time I wiped it was like snot. (I know - nasty)

that is the mucous plug it wont be long be for you start full labor but be careful yo may go quickly.
