I know! My husband is one of 15 kids. We both decided not to have any which worked out b/c I have PCOS and have never gotten pregnant. I had an IUD put in yesterday just to be for sure since the PCOS meds could allow me to get pregnant. To each his own. I value my money and sleep too much to have kids and personally don't want the responsibility. People need to watch the TV show Intervention. I couldn't imagine having my kids turn out that way. Did the Essure hurt? The IUD sure as hell did and now I'm all paranoid about it.

To those people who suggest it's God's will - most teachings indicate that God gave folks FREE will. If you want children, wonderful! Have a houseful. If not, there is no reason to. You can make a significant contribution to this world without procreating.
Couples who have children purely because of outside or family pressure are doing the children they produce no favors.
Children NEED to feel wanted and loved every minute of their lives. They deserve that. If you can't do that, then all power to you for choosing to make a difference in some other way.
To each his own - exactly! Try to ignore those disapproving comments. - they don't know you and they really have no business questioning your motives. You could just as easily question theirs.
Be happy!

There's nothing wrong with remaining childless. If you want children, by all means, have them and be happy. If you don't want children, no one else is offering to take care of them for you so don't feel as though you owe anyone an explanation on why you don't have children or why you don't want children. It's your choice and your decision.

My parents want grandchildren right away, tomorrow if possible, but i'm still young and to tell you honestly, i don't know if i even want to get married yet alone have kids!!!
I think there is nothing wrong with remaining childless, depends where your priorities are. Probably get a lot more out of life but, way more than if you had kids, everyone i know who has had kids feels restricted in some way. And it means you have to mature and act your age, something i dont want to ever have to do!!!

You pretty much answered your own question. Some people feel you are not fulfilling your duty as a human unless you reproduce. That may have been important in the early days, but we have plenty of people. Also, I see enough neglected children in my line of work to realize that not everyone should have children.

I applaud people that have the strength to remain childless by choice. God knows there are plenty of people having children that should have remained childless, for people to recognize their preference and act on it is intelligent. Society should not pressure ANYONE to have children, ever.

THAT IS YOUR RIGHT TO STAY CHILDLESS. I THINK SINCE YOU DON'T WANT CHILDREN IT IS BEST TO HAVE SOMETHING DONE TO PREVENT FROM HAVING CHILDREN. I ADMIRE YOU BECAUSE MORE THAN LIKELY YOU HAVE SAVE YOURSELF FROM A LOT OF WORRIES AND HEART ACHES
