I have seen it first hand. I work in an at-risk low-income school. There was an anonymous donor who had ALL 500+ children write letters to Santa and the donor provided EVERYTHING those kids asked for. (They were only allowed to ask for necessities no video games or electronic devices.) There was a first grader who just asked for her own bed, "Santa" and his elves brought her a bed, pillows, sheets and a comforter. It still brings tears to my eyes to think of the most amazing day I have ever witnessed. Kids got winter coats, boots, shoes, clothes...everything they asked for. It was the most joyous day I have ever witnessed.

I was in the hospital this summer and off work for 3 weeks and a few of my clients still paid me even though I couldn't do their work for them. I thought that was really nice since I am self-employed and had no medical insurance at the time.

They haven't been extreme but they touched me. One of my counselors bought me textbooks for my college classes. Another time my credit card was maxed out and I didn't have any money for groceries. The cashier told me to take the groceries and I could pay my bill another time.

On Thanksgiving one of my co-workers brought me in dinner, I was working a 12 hour shift and they wanted me to have dinner since I would just be going home after work and going to bed. It was really a nice thought, and it was great food. :)

Yes, if I feel & know that I can make someone I love happy, I don't think about how much it costs.
