I'm not looking for a specific answer, just different peoples' opinions, it would be greatly appreciated.

The 3 main characters are Dimmesdale, Hester, and Chillingworth. I'm looking for different peoples' opinions, it would be greatly appreciated.

I definitely agree with Snowball.

Hester would be the individual who took responsibility for her actions. She beared the shame on her own and took pains to prevent Dimmesdale from doing the same. She tried to help others in many ways, offered her work as charity, and took care of Pearl, her child. She admitted that her sin (adultery) was wrong and that she should reform herself. She chooses to do so by improving the way that society sees her. At one point, society believes that the 'A' she wears stands for "Able" and not its original meaning.

I hope this helps. Good luck with your homework.

Hester, she took care of her baby, let everyone knew her 'shame', didnt blame anyone else, let everyone laugh at her, didnt abort the baby,
Chillington was evil, reverend didnt tell anybody he was the papa, let hester suffer all the shame, so no responsibility

Scarlet Letter is soooo boring. I had to do it for a book report, i read the book, teacher changed mind, told class that she was going to assign books instead.
