Being a notary public is not a way to make a living. Because you are trustworthy and understand the legal documents you stamp and sign the document, usually charging $3 or $4 a piece.

Each state is different in its requirements. You will be lucky if you make enough to pay the fees to become one, unless you live in a state where notaries can perform marriages. If you can perform marriage ceremonies, you'd possibly make good money..
