If you park across the road from Collyhurst police station there is a car park there that is only attended on weekdays. ergo parking is free at weekend. This is because the old guy who runs it only charges £2 during the week compared to £8 in the centre (which happens to be only 5 minutes walk away - Just head towards the CIS building). He probably doesn't think its worth his while at weekend because most of his clients are just workers in Manchester who only work 5 days. Its a well used route by buses who have there own bus lane and its quite well lit and populated by pedestrians so its not like its a back street or anything. Do beware about parking on the streets in Manchester as the traffic wardens get a bit slap happy with the tickets and cars have been known to have been towed away since the arndale bombing. If you haven't been to Manchester for a while I would say its well worth a visit because its all been revamped and is great for shopping and sight-seeing.

I think it depends where you park. You can park on single yellow lines, all day on sundays, but watch for pay and display areas!
