I recently purchased a brand-new HP Compaq nc6220 laptop. There is a problem with the LCD screen, which I am trying to resolve. The colors on the screen are very washed out and seem to have too strong of a blue tint to them. They look only slightly better if the LCD is tilted way back, and if you are looking at it from an angle. I have checked the color settings in the display configuration, and they are set to the factory defaults. I was even able to compare it side-by-side with another laptop of the exact same model. Adjusting the color settings in the graphics card driver doesn't do the trick. Neither does Adobe Gamma. I tried plugging an external monitor into the VGA port, and it looks fine, so I doubt it's an issue with the video card/drivers. HP support won't fix the problem, and I am at a loss of what to do. Thanks for any advice you can provide.

I'm with the first guy. Either HP fixes you up or if you bought it recently enough, you should take it back to the place you bought it. They should know if people have been having issues with these laptops. If you don't come on too strong, someone is more likely to help. Start with sales and work your way to management if you have to. The same with HP tech support, start with the tech and go higher until someone does what is right.

I would call HP and tell them that the screen is not working and you wish a warranty replacement. We have several dozen of these models at work and I work with them on a daily basis. The color is perfect when viewed straight on, not tipped way back. Tell the HP people this and TELL them you want a warranty replacement or a refund.
