I just got a gift from a student teacher the other day! I was really surprised. I took her out to dinner Thursday and she gave me a $25 Barnes & Noble gift card and a jar of yummy cookies from Starbucks. I hadn't been expecting anything - I think I should be giving her gifts instead! She wasn't even really my student teacher. She taught only one of my classes but she really "belonged" to another teacher and taught the rest of the classes for him.

First of all, find a card with heartfelt words or a blank card..better yet make a card and write her a nice note inside of how much you appreciate her.
Secondly, a teacher is a servant always doing for others. It's a hard job..but a very important job..I think that a teriffic gift for a teacher is a service to her. But you're the one who knows her..what about a certificate for a manicure or a massage? Or if she likes coffee, get a dunkin donuts gift card. Movie certificates, does she have kids? Make a coupon that you'll babysit. Does she like to pamper herself? Get a basket: go to TJ Maxx and make a set of something: hand basket: hand cream, cotton gloves, nail brush, cuticle cream from bert's bees, or a bath basket: candle, bath fizzys or bubbles, a girly magazine,a bath mitt, gel, scrubs.Flower bouquets are beautiful or potted plants. a gardener could always use more gloves or they have lots of gardener soaps and scrubs that are cute..Another thing that's a cool gift is a magazine subscription maybe to something that she's interested in...okay i've said enough now :) ...homemade bread, cookies, jams, or a little gourmet basket lined with a pretty dishtowel :) hope you have some good ideas now

One of my student teachers gave me a gift certificate for Lou Malnati's pizza. Later I remembered that she had casually slipped into our conversation the question of my favorite pizza place. Pretty thoughtful-and tricky.
Another student teacher got me a Starbucks mug, coffee beans, and gift card (but I felt bad that she spent so much money).
I realize that student teachers are working hard for no money and are paying tuition on top of it...so you aren't expected to spend much. Actually, a gift isn't expected at all. Just a nice card of thanks is great too.
Good Luck in your teacher career and congrats on finishing student teaching!

A great note on what your experience this year has meant to you and a nice, inexpensive pen.
