The Da Vinci Code.. awful! The story had promise but was absolutely ruined by poor writing.

V.C.Andrews has been dead for over 20 years, yet I still here people praising the new books. Da Vinci Code was a good read, not the greatest, but still good. Try reading SIGN OF THE CROSS by Chris Kuzneski it totally blows Da Vinci Code away. And I hate it when people ask about books by Alexander Dumas because if they ever did their research they would find that Alexander Dumas never wrote a book in his life. He just owned the publishing house and started with an idea and then gave it to his thirty indentured scribes to write a story from. But it would be too much trouble to list thirty indentured scribes as the author and since they were indentured they couldn't own anything anyway. Just little things like this peeve me about some books.

A few years back I started reading The Wheel Of Time series by Robert Jordan. It's sort of a book-a-year deal. It's too dragged out, very repetitive, and even the most hardcore fans can't wait for Jordan to finally wrap up the story . Although, there seems no end in sight.
Many, including myself, have stopped reading after book 6 or 7, he's on 12 right now, I think.

I agree with Lefty Lucy. The DaVinci Code was an okay book, but not worth the hype. It was an intriguing story line that had a ton of potential, but the writing quality was poor at best. And the rest of the hype around it made me think this book was the "next big thing". What a disappointment!

I love War and Peace; people think I'm a little weird because I actually read the whole thing, and even liked it.

I don't like any books series about teenagers; so many people I know like Gossip Girls, etc, and I just can't force myself to read those books.

Finally, even though it's a "classic" I truly did not care for The Great Gatsby.

I'm a Harry Potter freak, but I do think that her fans (myself included) are a little too obsessive.
I couldn't get through page eleven of Eragon, let alone eldest, even though they'r emost of my friends' favorite books.
The Series of Unfortunate Events is not as good as it used to be.
Inkheart and Inkspell, also some of the favorites in my school are really not all that great.

I love the story of Lord of the Rings, but I think the way Tolkien narrated it was really boring. Just having all the characters sitting around telling stories to the other characters about what had just happened. A lot of the time, it felt like reading a text book.

I love Shakespeare. Adore him, in fact-- I could read some of those plays over and over again.

On the other hand, I absolutely abhore Hemingway. I think he was an absolute moron with no clue about how to create a convincing character.

I hate Eragon and Eldest.

Actually, scratch that. I now read Eldest every day. It has become a part of my routine. I am somewhat insomniac, but I have discovered that if I read three chapters of Eldest before I go to bed, I go right to sleep. It's very handy, really.
