I know that not everyone hates country music, but a lot do. And people that say that they hate country usually like rock and think that rock is "so much better." I listen to both, and when it comes down to it, historically, the two genres are barely seperated. Listening to both, sometimes it's hard to decifer the two because they are in reality so similar. So I really want to know what you find unappealing about country music (if you don't like it of course).
This is NOT a place to argue or bash about any kind/genre of music. I'm honestly and sincerely trying to glean a general opinion as to why people don't like it.

I am a rock lover, and I don't hate country. It is true that the two overlap in many areas.
I do dislike it. But not all of it.
I just dislike the really hardcore country stuff. Some of it just gets so whiney. It gets annoying.
It's just my opinion. I don't dislike people for liking country, nor do I try to talk them out of it. It's just what they like. And I'd be really upset if someone tried to talk me out of my music, too.

I generally dislike country. Mainly i dislike the last 10-15 years of it. Country is not what it used to be in my opinion. The good country is like 1950s to 1970s. The media has taken its toll on what true country music is all about and represents. But i will say that i do have my favorite selections from the old skool. So I dont completely hate it. People that are into rock probably hate it because they're insecure, immature, and too cool to admit they like a song or 2.

I like older country music, like Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and Waylon Jennings. Not crazy about today's musicians, although Willie Nelson, Alan Jackson and Dwight Yoakam are good.

People have their own opinions, i can't say more cause you can
't change their minds. Like me for example i don't really tend to hear country alot. I prefer some kind of techo or some kind of rave genre.
Well you might have noticed that i like some of those genres which people disclaim or don't hear at all. Well still their own opinions, can't say more, nor can you change what they like.

With the exception of Johnny Cash and the Dixie Chicks, I hate country because it seems very repetative. I am around people who like country a lot so I hear a lot of it. It all sounds the same and has no "texture"(if you will) to it. I just can't stand it.

I don't dislike. Music genre means nothing to me. Some people think they don't like it and some people don't like the sound though and that's what it comes down to.

It sounds uneducated. When people talking about "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off" in weird country-western accents, it's just grating. It's like the music of hillbillies.

Country music is freakishly jolly. And i do prefer rock music to country. Country music is...its hard to explain it... i see a strange little drug stuffed smiley face with a freakishly huge grin on its face bouncing around. It just scares me. Sorry but its true
