Political science, along with history, was one of my two majors. When I graduated, I was interested in a career in government, so I went on to receive a Master of Public Administration and currently work as a government consultant. Basically, I work with state and local governments on special projects that require outside expertise.

If a government career (either on the federal, state, or local level) is interesting, a Master of Public Administration is your best bet. Teaching is also a great option, though you'd need certification for the middle or high school levels or a PhD for college. Also, a lot of poly sci majors go on to law school.

More important than what your degree can do for you is the question of what you want to do. Find what makes you happy, regardless of whether your degree matches it or not.

I am currently minoring in PS and majoring in Economics. I plan to become a lawyer, a legit one-dont worry, and then be a politician, again a legit one-so dont worry. I love politics and law too. You can be a campaign manager, poltical analysist, politician or work for politicians. I am sure thre is so much more than this, but these are right off the top of my head. Email a professor or teacher asking this question.

Unfortunately, there's not much out there. If you have good writing skills, you can go into journalism. Government service is an option. If you speak another language, you can go into int'l business. Law school is probably the most common path. Teaching is frequent, but schools don't need social studies teachers.

You can major in something else and still take polisci classes.

I received an undergraduate degree in poltiical science, but after some practical experience in the field I received a master of arts in criminal justice, because I discovered that if you start getting involved in politics you eventually have to know a great deal about criminals.

I haven't had much success using my Poli Sci degree. I'm glad I double majored because it has been useful working for a state security detail.

If you don't have the money to do internships don't get a political science degree.

If you want to teach your going to have to get at least a masters.
